IF YOU ARE A DEFENDANT REPRESENTED BY THE WASHTENAW COUNTY OFFICE OF PUBLIC DEFENDER WITH A COURT HEARING ON JANUARY 30 OR 31, THE COURTS WILL RESCHEDULE YOUR HEARING AND NOTIFY YOU OF THE NEW DATE. YOU SHOULD ALSO CALL THE PUBLIC DEFENDER OFFICE AT 734-222-6970 AND ASK FOR THE NEW DATE OF YOUR HEARING. THE OFFICE OF PUBLIC DEFENDER IS CLOSED ON JANUARY 30 AND 31. CURRENTLY, WE ANTICIPATE OUR OFFICE WILL RE-OPEN ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2019. The Washtenaw County Office of Public Defender was established in 1971 by our Board of Commissioners with the aid of a federal grant requiring that the department be an integral part of the executive branch of county government and independent of the judiciary.
